Tips Choosing Toys
Providing toys is very important for the growth and development of your child. Many elderly people are often fooled by the view that giving a toy can destroy the mentality of a child where the child is more like playing than learning.
Through play the children will learn (to play to learn), so is the duty of parents to choose good toys that babies and children can learn many things while playing.
Choosing toys can be tricky. But the bottom line, choose toys that have the best benefits for the development of the child. The following tips can be used in selecting toys for children.
Prioritizing Safety and Health
Prevention better than treatment. Parents should always remember the side of safety when choosing toys for their children. Make sure the toy was strong (not easily broken) and have a safe size without any danger of scratching or swallowed. Make sure the surface of toys are made of materials / paint that is safe and not easy to peel. Make sure the battery is connected and locked properly.
If you use a rope toy as one of the components, make sure the length not more than 20 cm to avoid the child’s neck caught. Keep the plastic / packaging wrappers from children. Make sure all the labels in a toy package includes international quality standards (such as M or ASTM) or the national standards (eg SNI).
Adjust the Age of the Child
When choosing toys for children, is important for you to know the level of mental development according to age. Choose toys appropriate to the level of learning. Try to find toys that will challenge the development of skills, but without making the child frustrated. Always check the age label on every package toys. Age labels found on packaging is based on mental and physical abilities of children, playing needs, interests and security.
Stimulates Senses
Every day for the children is a time filled with new discoveries. Activities and toys should be designed to stimulate sensory development of children. The more and more frequently use senses, the brain cells of children will also grow (in quantity and quality).
Textured toys, shapes and colors are attractive and can make a sound will assist children in exploring and learning. To guide the child’s sense of caring about how something that happened, toys should be easy to use and encourage interaction.

Avoid giving too many number of toys to practice children concentration. When children are bored with one toy, replace it with another toy, usually a child will easily bored when he was given a few toys as well as many at the same time. Do not forget to always provide paper and crayons, boxes used for organizing, story books and other objects (which is home) is safe for him to play.
