Regular Physical Activity is Crucial for Your Kid

Each kid has a necessity for certain amount of phisycal activity on a daily basis for proper development of motor and social skills. Indoor playgrounds provide outstanding environment to fulfil this need.

“Health Canada” states that a regular physical activity is vital for healthy development and growth in kids. They encourage Canadians to practice a regular physical activity routine as a part of day-to-day life. Research indicates that lack of correct exercise causes chronic sicknesses, disability and even untimely death.

Youngsters today are different from the children, generations back. Today children play online rather than playing in the backyard or playgrounds. Rather than walking or cycling kids take the school bus. Time in gym is minimal because of increased academic pressures.

Over 50% of Canadian Kids are not physically active enough for normal development and growth. The total number of unhealthy and inactive children is rising. As an outcome, cases of child obesity are increasing too.

Daily physical activity for youngsters

Shocking cases of youth obesity among preschool youngsters has put a spotlight on the seriousness of physical activity for school going youngsters. The amount of daily physical activity varies according to the age of the child. “The National Association for Sports and Physical Education” has recommended recommendations for physical activity for the optimal development of preschool youngsters.

The guidelines include:

  • Children should do no less than 60 minutes of physical activity daily. This should involve intermittent moderate and vigorous physical exercises.

  • For optimal development, fitness and health, kids need to indulge in daily physical activity applicable for their ages.

  • During day time, children shouldn’t be inactive for over two hours.

Indoor playgrounds promote physical activities

Indoor playgrounds provide good environment for physical development of youngsters. There’s substantial research showing the direct link between play and brain development, motor skills and social capabilities. Indoor play centres provide play structures with lots of space for children to be physically active. Even simple slides and swings are known to develop coordination and manipulation.

Daily physical activity has become important for Canadian preschool going youngsters

“The 2010 Report Card by Active Healthy Kids Canada”
focuses on the significance of physical activity for preschool Canadian youngsters, to lead an active life. Overweight and obese preschool youngsters are turning into a common sight in Canada.

Based primarily on two independent reports from different Canadian regions, obesity in 2-5 year olds is between 8-11%. According to National surveillance data, in 2-5 years old kids, 15.2% are overweight and 6.3% are obese. The growing obesity epidemic is a real threat to healthy living. The early years of a kid is an important part of the growth phase and acquisition of motor abilities needed to be physically active. Encouraging youngsters at a tender age, to take part in physical activities can instil an affection for physical sports that may stay with them as they grow.
